Who Would Want A Knit Skirt?

The answer to that question…My sister. This was actually back in October that I had a conversation with my sister about the fact that (almost) every pattern book I own has a design for a knit skirt, and how I thought that a little odd because I feel like I never see anyone wearing a knitted skirt (which may very well be just a symptom of my location). As beautiful as the patterns usually are. And her response was that she would wear one. So…naturally, I decided I would make one for her, just to try it out. The pattern she chose was the Chelsea Skirt by Cecily Glowik MacDonald, which I found in New England Knits. (Which is a really nice collection of patterns, by the way.)

I couldn’t afford the yarn called for, so I decided to use KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Tweed. Which, can I just say, I love tweed. I can’t really explain why, I just do. I also bought the gloss lace in natural for the trim. (A chance for more lace!) So, here goes nothing…

I think it will turn out well, I’m just a little worried about the fit. I have trouble making adjustments to patterns, so I think I will go for a little bit bigger than what I think, and if needed my sister can sew so we can take it in a little. It is, after all, easier to make something smaller than to make it bigger.
